More about the BRAVIA engine
The BRAVIA engine filters the incoming image using a technique called comb filtration; it decreases cross colour distortion, dot crawl, and moiré (the distortion you get on patterns such as a check shirt). In addition, the engine enhances the contrast by boosting any areas of low contrast within an image, creating an overall higher-contrast picture. The engine matches the colours; an exact colour reproduction ensures the final image shows exactly as the original source intended. This means you see incredibly natural colours.
The BRAVIA engine widens the tone range; this part of the filter process expands the range of gradation between colours and between light and dark shades. This means you see a much smoother image. The engine also smoothes the motion: fast moving pictures on earlier LCD panels suffered from motion blur; Motion conversion smoothes the diagonal lines of pixels in fast moving pictures, preventing jagged edges and bleeding colours. This makes it ideal for sport and action sequences.
The BRAVIA engine deepens the greens and blues, these are traditionally two of the weakest colours, the BRAVIA engine specifically enhances them this brightens and deepens blue and green subjects.
